“WAKE” — Women and Kids Education.

WAKE—Women and Kids Education—is a charitable organization dedicated exclusively to the education, training, and betterment of children and women. “WAKE” means “a wake-up call.” The main objective of the organization is to consciously awaken and empower women and children through education and training.

There is no greater power than education to make a person strong. When a child or a woman steps into life adorned with the jewels of education, formation, and skill training, no force of evil can defeat them. That is why, in our training sessions, we tell women:

“We are not afraid of storms because we are learning to row our own boat.”

We extend our hand in the darkness to pull others into the light. WAKE’s scope of work is primarily in inner cities and villages where life opportunities are very limited—where children do not have access to education, and women lack skills.

WAKE’s mission is to break this vicious cycle of evil and poverty. WAKE’s vision is to empower women and children to live dignified lives. Through improving their health, education, economic independence, and skills, they can become instruments of peace and progress in society. Our ultimate goal is for them to live peacefully and prevent oppression and violence.

“WAKE” — Women and Kids Education.

My name is Sabina Rifat. I am a Catholic Christian by faith. After graduation, I studied theology for three years and earned a Master’s degree from Regina Mundi, Rome, Italy.

I am the chairperson of an organization called “WAKE” — Women and Kids Education. It has been a registered non-profit organization since 2008. WAKE works especially for marginalized women and children, with an emphasis on girls.

From 2008 until 2021, I was Coordinator of the Women’s Wing of URI (United Religions Initiative) Pakistan. I conducted awareness seminars for women and young girls throughout the country—in cities, rural areas, and brick kilns. My work focused on vocational training for illiterate women and basic education for girls working at brick kilns, serving both Christian and Muslim communities. This fostered a deep understanding and a spirit of collaboration, creating interfaith harmony among people of both religions.

We work for peace, equality, and interfaith harmony in Pakistan, which is urgently needed due to growing fanaticism.

I served as an educationist in a renowned missionary school in Pakistan for 15 years. I hold seminars, workshops, and counseling sessions for youth—especially young girls and women, both Christian and Muslim—helping them with human formation, job readiness, spiritual and trauma counseling, career guidance, and above all, teaching them to live with dignity.

As a human rights activist and representative voice of women, I have participated in many spiritual, literary, and educational conferences abroad in several countries.

Since 2006, my dedication has been focused on empowering poor people, especially girls and women in the poorest slums and those working in brick factories. We provide education and teach sewing and embroidery skills to those who had no chance to attend school. Our work promotes interfaith harmony to foster peace, tolerance, acceptance, and cooperation between Christians and Muslims. This goal is only achievable through education, vocational training, and bringing people of both religions together to work hand in hand.
